Having family photos taken is usually a costly affair so here are a few simple tips to make sure you are happy with the results. You will have to live with the photos on your wall for the next decade (at least) so it is worth spending time planning for a great result.
Tip 1 – Wear Colour
Stick to your favourite outfits and colours. Wearing all white or all black will make the image slightly boring and does not always bring the light and shade that makes a photo stand out. Wearing all the same colours also will blend all of you together so it is hard to see where one body starts and finishes and therefor not using the slimming rules. Colour will define your shape. If you want help with your best colours check out your options. Have a few outfit changes ready to go so you have options. Especially for the little ones. Make sure you check your hair that it is look great.
Tip 2 – Make up & Hair
Make a big effort in doing your make up and hair the best you can. Adding a little extra blush and highlighter as well as contouring shades to give light and shade to your cheeks will make you look healthy and sun-kissed. Style Angel can help you with a make up lesson so you have the best shade of foundation, lipstick and eyes shadow and you know how to apply. For more info click here. You may like to consider getting your make up done professionally. Book the photographer when your hair colour and cut has just been done. Regrowth will bug you for a lifetime when it is captured and hanging on your wall. Use a bit of hair spray to keep the stray bits at bay. Apply a bit of blush to your daughters cheeks as well as a bit of mascara to make her eyes stand out. Try and use as little lipgloss as it reflects the light.
Tip 3 – Accessories
Keep accessories to a bare minimum. Clutter really shows on an image. Simple is best. Really shiny metals reflect the light as well.
Tip 4 – Bring out your inner model
Practise your stand in the mirror and bring out your inner model. Stomach pulled in, boobs forward, slight angle of your torso will look really flattering on an image. Make sure your partners hand is not around your waist. It looks silly on the shot. Smile into the camera lens and love the camera as if it is your husband. Your energy will transfer to the end result.
Tip 5 – Check out the Photographer
Work out what background you will take your shots in front of. Will it be in nature or inside your home? A professional photographer will be able to bring a backdrop in a variety of different colours that suits your outfits or works with the finished result you have in mind. Do your research on which photographer you are going to use. What is their portfolio like? Will they get the best out of you? A sense of humour will bring great candid shots. There is always one child that does not conform and has a tantrum but a true professional will be able to make them laugh and shoot the perfect shot! Ask them to touch up your top 5 shots so the result is perfect!
