Tailoring Tips For HIM
Here are some great tips for the Guys so feel free to pass them on to your Husband, Boyfriend, Dad, Brother or Friend.
Perfect Fit
When it comes to finding the right suit jacket it is important to consider button placement, lapels, sleeves, pockets and vents.
A rule of thumb in choosing the correct buttoning is that the middle button of a three button jacket or the top button of a two button jacket is positioned at your navel. Always leave your bottom button undone!
The jacket should fit well in the chest when buttoned and you will be amazed the difference lower or higher placed buttons make on your shape.
Double vents are the most flattering and fashionable, make sure you don't carry your life in your suit pockets, although this is practical it is not a great look!
Your sleeve length is perfect where the hand meets the arm to give room to show off your great shorts and cufflings.
Shirts will make or break your professional look! Do your shirts fit you well across the neck, shoulders and arms. Does your shirt length finish at 1.5 cm above the base of the thumb?
Sleeves rolled up just below the elbow is the most professional look. Make sure the top and the cuff of the shirt are looking tidy and clean as these are areas that other people will notice. The shirt length depending on the height of your torso is important so your shirts don't come out of your pants during the day!
Your Pants should fit you well around the waist and should be long enough to cover your socks when you are walking and fall in a straight line from your bottom. The length of the pants is so important and they should angle backwards at about 2.5cm or longer at the heel. As a rule cuffs on the bottom of the pants decrease your visual height. Straight leg trousers are flattering on most men rather than flared or tapered legs.
