Years and years of unproductive shopping may have taken the excitement out of shopping for you.
You may preempt already that you are probably not “going to fit into anything” or “find anything”, so it is time to take on your shopping alter ego so your super shopping powers are turned on.
Alter Egos are a blanket of confidence that you put on when you park your car at your shopping destination.
Before (a normally shy) Beyonce goes on stage she takes on her alter ego called Sasha Fierce to give her power and courage to entertain millions of people.
Because let’s face it Sexy Imelda would always buy the right size shoes that don’t hurt her feet already in the store.
Stylish Mama knows what she wants and she gets it! Every time! Without fail!
Shopping Gigi has a nose for finding the right thing, often at a bargain, as she knows there are always in-store and online promotions.
Savvy Charlotte knows that buying within her budget creates no regrets later.
Yummy Mummy enjoys wearing fitted clothes that show off her body yet are comfortable.
Carrie Shoelover knows how to mix and match out of a minimal wardrobe.
All Sillyness Aside
After 15 years of looking after clients, I hear similar things that often happen in the mind of women. I hear how awful they feel about certain parts of their body, how they find it hard to name a part of their body that they love. I hear how they get frustrated with sizing in shops and how it is all over the place. I see them get excited when they try (and look great) in a smaller size than they normally wear.
I hear how their wardrobe is full but they still feel they have “nothing” to wear. I hear that they have so much black because it is “easy”. I hear how when they shop they often “have to have” something, to make them feel better and not because they love it. I see how their spirit soars when they find great mix and match pieces that all look great.
Bring Out Your Inner Stylist
My passion for sharing all my Styling tips and tricks with you gets ignited every time I see a transformation in a change room. Tips and tricks I use to do the best job possible with each and every client who books in with me.
My wish is that you read the information and use the tips so you can turn your wardrobe around. It will take a bit of guts to change your old shopping habits and you will need to watch that little voice inside your head.
The voice in your head is not always kind and is also not real and can be replaced by a much happier and kinder version that has your best interest and happiness in mind.
So how can you bring out your Inner Stylist?
Stop being down on yourself. Yes. Stop. We all have lumps and bumps. I know you feel your’s are the “biggest”, most flabbiest of all, but guess what, they are not. I say this with love and kindness as I can see how your thoughts about your body keep you from trying on a smaller size or trying a body revealing style.
You have only one body, it serves you patiently, it is strong and it deserves respect and kind thoughts. No exceptions.
As your Stylist, I look at your body with excitement on how I can display your fine sample in the best light possible. I think with thoughts of possibility. My stylist mind is 100% focussed on styles and shapes that work for you.
For you to shift your mind into positivity about your body is a personal journey you do at your own pace. I promise you as soon as you give up the negative feelings about your body and replace it with positive feelings you will become a magnet of great things and confidence.
As your Stylist, I am like a blood hound sniffing out the best pieces, the nicest colours and the most comfortable materials. Try to do the same, next time you are at the shops.
Refer to part 2 of this training “What looks Great on your Body Shape” for tips on what styles look great on you. Plus stick with me over the coming weeks, I will go into detail how you can use line and the design of clothes to create slimming lines. (link is below)
Refer to part 3 “What are your best colours” to read again how you can use colour to look slimmer and to attract the attention to certain parts of your body by using colour. (link is below)
Never. Ever. Never. Ever settle for anything less than a 10 out of 10. From socks to undies, to jackets, tops and pants. It all has to feel nice, fit well, excite you, ignite passion and make you feel great. Why otherwise buy it? Why spend your hard earnt dollar on something less than that? No Stylist would let you get away with anything less than perfect*.
*I give you one exception; if the length is too long and it can be taken up without loosing shape!
