Sydney Spring 2017 is here and how lucky are we to have blue sky's and mild temperatures. It can still be a bit cold in the morning and evening so light layers are essential.
As a body shape expert, I have put together Spring 2017 style trends that might inspire you with a focus on what suits your body shape.
STYLE TREND 1 COMFORT
Relaxed fits, flowing fabrics, linen, cotton are the look of the season. Mixed with a flat, funky metallic sneaker or heel.
Comfort works really well to give extra room around your stomach or bottom but can quickly loose definition. My tips for a Pear body shape and Hourglass body shape are to check you are wearing the right size. Try a size down if the fit is big, especially when you pick tops. The extra room in the bottom will be helpful.
The Spring styles really suit a Rectangle body shape as long as you keep defining some waist so you don't look too straight up and down.
If you are an Inverted body shape you will find plenty of tops to fit over your bust and wider bottom styles to give your shape a sense of balance.
STYLE TREND 2 BIG SLEEVES
Bell sleeves, 3/4 or full length are here to stay. It adds a lovely softness to your look and can create a perfect balance to your shape.
Great for the office as well as on the weekend in a more relaxed fabric.
Body shape pointers are to be mindful where the bell sleeve is the widest for a Pear and Hourglass as you don't want to add width to the hip area. A elbow or 3/4 finish are perfect.
A Rectangle can choose this sleeve as a softener for your otherwise straighter shape.
Since your upper body is wider, Inverted Triangle, choose a mid arm to wrist finish to minimise and create a more balanced look.

STYLE TREND 3 SHOULDER ACTION
Shoulder action comes in many forms in the current fashion trends. One shoulder, elasticised or strap with shoulder peep.
After a recent survey amongst clients about the bare shoulder action in the Style Forum on Facebook, it is clear that not everyone is confident to try this look. One of the main reasons was the need for the dreaded strapless bra.
Every body shape has different issues with a strapless bra. But if you fall into a 30A to a 40E cup then I recommend the Intimo Strapless Bras.
A Pear body shape is particularly suited to the off the shoulder trend and you need to make sure that you choose a strapless bra that is not to wide in the band as it will come down to your waist.
Hourglass bust size is often larger with a small waist so you need to pay the most attention to right fit to see if this style trend works for you. A cut out arm may be a saver bet where you can wear your regular bra.
Inverted Triangle body shape is the widest in the upper body so a cut out arm may be a saver bet where you can wear your regular bra.
Rectangle body shapes come in many forms, some more straight and some more wide in the shoulders. The off-the-shoulder style creates a wide horizontal line in your upper body so select the style that works for you, without dismissing this all together as it could really work for you to create definition.
STYLE TREND 4 LONG SKIRTS
A great light and airy way to dress. You will be able to create many different looks with the same skirt and in the Sydney climate it will overlap all seasons.
Mix it with a lovely top, jeans jacket or sporty coat, sneaker or high heel, it will look different every time.
So important you pick the right one and the most versatile colour that will slot right into your wardrobe.
A perfect fashion trend for all body shapes!
