The Shape Of Your Face – Heart

There are many hair styles that will suit every face shape. The following information
contains the most important aspects of a good style for your face shape.
An inverted triangle and heart shaped face is characterised by a wide forehead and
high cheekbones and the face under the cheek area gradually narrows to a pointed chin.
A heart face shape also has a widow’s peak.

Your best styles will be those that minimise your forehead and adds a little width to your jawline.

Characteristics of a Good Style:

• The hairstyle should be close to the face at the top of the ears to create soft waves that partially cover the ears.
• A centre front part to take narrow  the forehead.
• Volume and width along the chin line.
• Soft easy styles with a light fringe on the forehead.

Avoid:

• Hair pulled back off your forehead.
• Styles that are full at the temples.
• Straight fringes.
• Too much height at the top of the head.
• Low side parts.
• Top heavy styles.

The Right Short Hairstyle: This is a great short hairstyle that really suits our models heart face shape. The height achieved on top adds needed length that balances out what is known as a short and mostly wide face shape. The absence of bangs also gives the illusion of more face and more height. It's simple but it is what is needed.

The Wrong Short Hairstyle: Definitely the wrong hairstyle for heart face shapes. This cut positions hair where it just isn't needed. The heavy bangs make our models face appear shorter and wider than it already is. Next, the wispy sides promote width, which is once again the opposite of what heart face shapes require for balance. This shape in any texture will not work and therefore must be avoided.

The Right Medium Hairstyle: This beauty has everything that's needed to make it the perfect hairstyle for our models heart face shape. The top area has long heavy bangs swept to the side that shows off our models forehead. This creates needed vertical length. The sides and back are layered and then kicked out through styling to compensate for the void area or narrow chins that are customary with heart faces. A similar shape in other textures will work just as well.

The Wrong Medium Hairstyle: This look is too square and horizontally short to suit our models heart face shape. The solid across bangs only exaggerate the box like shape that makes up this hairstyle. The bangs need removing and the sides layering for any suitability. This is a good example of what not to try if you have a heart face shape.

The Right Long Hairstyle: This soft forward falling hairstyle has all of the right attributes for heart face shapes. The middle part helps divide the face into two long shapes which creates the illusion of vertical length. The layers through the sides frame the chin area and below, adding hair where it's needed. Waves and curls in the same shape will work very well and actually appear softer.

The Wrong Long Hairstyle: This wavy look shows what not to try if you have a heart face shape. Firstly, the heavy bangs shorten the length of the face making it look wider than it already is. Secondly, the width achieved through the layers and waves once again adds width to the entire look. The result is a short, wide, fat, squashed look. Now you know what to avoid!

Eye Wear

• Select round or oval frames with soft curves and/or an upward sweep.
• Low temples will add balance to your face.
• Light to medium coloured frames and rimless styles are also very effective.
• The frames will also have to be sized in proportion to your head.  A woman who has a small head size will need smaller frames for balance and vice versa.
• A low bridge will shorten a long nose and a high bridge will lengthen a short nose.
• Update your glasses every two to three years with a current style.
• Do not wear obvious bifocals with a line.  They make you look out of style and out-of-date.  Ask for no-line progressive lenses.

Make-up

• Apply a darker shade of foundation on either side of the forehead.
• Apply a lighter shade of foundation on either side of the jaw line.
• Apply blush to the ball of the cheek and blend towards the centre of the ear.

Earrings:

If your face is only slightly longer than wide shapes that add length to the face as well as those that add width will be great.
If your face is definitely longer than it is wide select earring styles that a have some width and avoid overly long styles. The best shapes include:

• Drops
• Pear shapes
• Teardrops
• Rectangles
• Ovals
•  Hoops

Hats: 

• An irregular brim and prominent crown will make the face appear narrower.
• Wear a hat on an angle to soften the broadness of the forehead.
• Look for hats that lengthen and soften the broad contour.
• Look for hats with a large crown.
