I met Sue Still for the first time at the Penrith Diana Ferrari store as she booked in for a Style Session. Sue had recently retired from a Management role of over 34 years for a large corporation and she wanted to discover what styles and looks suited her new life style.
Sue told me, “I have kept pretty active over the years with hobbies such as physical culture, yoga, personal fitness, African drumming and Zumba. Now that I am retired, I am hoping to get a piano and get back into music and playing. Also, my husband and I love to travel and already planning more trips around Australia and overseas.”
Many women struggle to find their casual mojo after many years investing mostly in their corporate wardrobe. Sue did something very special for herself. She gave herself permission to get some help and she dedicated time, effort and money in finding styles and new looks that look amazing on her.
Sue says, “Before I met Angela, I battled with not knowing what to wear once I stopped working. I felt down in the dumps and I was not as confident as I used to be when getting ready to go out anywhere. It didn’t matter what time of the year or whether it was for day or evening………..I always thought I had ‘nothing to wear’.
I had been receiving information online from Diana Ferrari including information about styling sessions over a period of time. One day I bit the bullet and decided I would book a style session and see what I could get out of it. Maybe find something to wear……..“
Sue Taylor is such a stunning beauty, she has a beautiful figure and many things looked so amazing on her that together we did a few happy dances in the change room! Literally, a well-deserved, whole new exciting world of travel and hobbies opened up with different colours and styles Sue had never worn before and casual shoes and boots to match. What a pleasure and delight to watch this unfold before my eyes.
Sue left for a wonderful holiday to New Zealand where she got married to her wonderful partner in life, Graeme.
When the colder weather arrived, Sue contacted me to book in for a Wardrobe Styling to create many mix and match casual outfits for any occasion as well as clear out her corporate wardrobe. Sue has the following occasions she needs distinctly different looks and styles for; Casual during the week, Catching up with Friends for dinner, Going Out to the Opera, Weekends with family and friends and easy wear for Travel with light weight dressy items for night.
We took 3 hours to compile all items Sue loves wearing and I catalogued all items with my camera to create mix and match guides. (more on this later)
It was interesting to see what items made it to the recycle pile; of course, to be expected, corporate style tops, jackets, cardigans and pants that had all been very loved. Sue is suited to more medium contrast patterns and colours so the higher contrast and angular patterned tops and dresses did not make it back into the wardrobe.
Sue was so amazed as we put combinations together from her wardrobe she never thought of. Sue says, “Angela identified many items in my wardrobe that made the perfect base for a great winter wardrobe. I was amazed how Angela organised my wardrobe. I now find it so easy to choose my clothes each day. I have gained so much from the style sessions and have an understanding of what style types and colours best suit me. I am now better equipped in knowing what I need to shop for. No more buying clothes on impulse and ending up with items of clothing I don’t really need or are not right for my body shape. Not to mention the $ saved.”
At the same time I kept notes on any gaps that would suit the updated Casual wardrobe. In effect, the gaps were mainly a beige coloured longer cardigan to make use of all her great tops, a slate coloured pair of jeans and ankle boots. Not a massive Gap list at all.
Sue says “I have learned to trust my own instinct and be more creative with my wardrobe. This has given me a real confidence boost in how to dress for all occasions. Right now I love my winter wardrobe and how well organised it looks. I can’t wait to revamp my wardrobe for Spring and Summer.”
After taking plenty of photos during the Wardrobe Styling, I introduced Sue to Pinterest. I created 2 Private Pin Boards; one for her current wardrobe and one for Sue’s Wish List. Sue was new to Pinterest so she followed the simple instructions I have put together in the Pinterest Guide for Beginners.
I worked on many mix and match pages for Sue that were full of her current wardrobe with the odd style recommendation. Sue has a PDF version as well as a copy on Pinterest for instant access on her iPad or phone.
Sue says, “I had never heard of Pinterest until Angela mentioned it and explained how it works. This is a great tool for styling and I can refer to it at anytime. I love how Angela has personalised Pinterest with my wardrobe items and how to mix and match pieces to help me achieve a great look. I have a virtual stylist at my fingertips 24/7.”
“Booking the style session and wardrobe styling with Angela opened my eyes to the endless possibilities of how to effectively create a magical wardrobe and how to mix and match clothing. The bonus of having Angela at my home was a blessing . She had identified items I had already in my wardrobe and how I could best utilise them without having to spend an absolute fortune. I now go clothes shopping stress free and with so much confidence.
I say go and book that style session with the Style angel and reconnect with your wardrobe.
It is exciting, fun, invigorating and is worth every cent!”
